Reports today are circulating around Sven Mislintat and his possible departure from Arsenal.
The German, recruited for his talent for spotting potential squad additions, is reportedly at odds with our other backroom lynchpin, Raul Sanllehi, and his potential exit could be as early as this month, some newspapers say.
Bayern Munich are interested in signing up the man touted as ‘Diamond Eye’ and a move back to Germany, where he could at least know his club have the potential of spending money on the players he spots, could be a lucrative option for Mislintat.
Our Head of Recruitment only joined the club in November, but The Independent and Arsenal blogs Arseblog and Le Grove are stating that the recommendations coming from Mislintat are being ignored by Sanllehi.
Mislintat has been the man behind the signings of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Konstandinos Mavropanos, Sokratis, Bernd Leno, Stephane Lichtsteiner, Lucas Torreira and Matteo Guendouzi. He is famed for the man who launched the career of Ousmane Dembele, and when at Dortmund he spotted the likes of Shinji Kagawa and Aubameyang too.
This story may have been rumbling on for quite some time, as Arseblog indicate that Mislintat was well placed to be promoted to Technical Director, but recent sounds from the club suggest that former Gunner Edu is in line to take the position instead.
Mislintat is supposedly faced with a position where he can spot new talent, but not be listened to. Even if he had a direct line to the decision makers like is meant to, we have no money to spend on acquiring these targets.
Sven Mislintat was quite the coup when he arrived last year, and was lined up to play a big part in the new post-Wenger regime, but with the news of us without transfer funds and now the golden boy of recruitment may be leaving, leaves us in a precarious position.
