Arsenal have confirmed that Sven Mislintat is to leave the club.

An official club statement has declared that the German Head of Recruitment is to depart his post on 8 February, amidst growing rumours that Mislintat was deeply unhappy with his role at the club.

Sven Mislintat is now rumoured to join Bayern Munich, and the much-heralded German talent spotter will surely be a miss to Arsenal.

Mislintat joined Arsenal in late 2017 to much fanfare and excitement. The German had forged quite the reputation in Germany with Borussia Dortmund, responsible for discovering some of the biggest names in football today.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Shinji Kagawa, Ousmane Dembele and more than a few others can attribute their career to Mislintat, and it was because of a feud with then Dortmund boss Thomas Tuchel that gave us the opportunity to lure Mislintat to Arsenal. Under the premise of a critical role in the post-Wenger revolution, Mislintat was given the impression that he would be eventually appointed Technical Director.

This season has seen some changes though. Arsenal are going down the route of using Sanllehi’s vast amount of connections in the game according to The Independent, rather than a strategic approach that Mislintat favours, the approach he used to recruit Matteo Guendouzi and Lucas Torreira.

The final straw seems to be the fact that Vinai Venkatesham and Sanllehi now appear to favour former Gunner Edu for the Technical Director role, rather than Mislintat, and the move to sign Denis Suarez from Barcelona is being pushed by Unai Emery, as the Spanish coach is taking more of an involved role in transfers than previously thought.

So, now Sven Mislintat, one of the best talent spotters and developers in the game, is now departing the club after a little over a year, and we now need a replacement.

Given the fact we have precious little money for transfers, this new appointment could wait a season or two….
