Unai Emery has conducted himself impeccably during his early press conferences, despite the language barrier, and his words have fired up the fanbase who are at this moment, enjoying the fresh talk and a new slant on our club.

During these press conferences, Emery has been pushed to confirm or deny whether Aaron Ramsey is going to sign a new long term contract at the club, and our new coach has spoken highly of the Welshman, firmly setting out his stall for wanting to keep Ramsey at Arsenal;

“I’m very happy with him. For me, every day, every training session, he has the ambition I want. He’s working with a quality, the type of ability I want. I want to work with him,” said Emery.

Emery also distanced himself regarding the negotiations, saying “His new contract is a question for the player and for the club. I’ve said to Ivan, Raul and Sven that I think he’s an important player for me.”

Ramsey is entering the final year of his contract, and his next deal will be his most important. Entering his peak years, Ramsey will know he is a valuable commodity and will need assurances from the Board that the club can give him what he desires - success.

The Welshman is viewed by many as one of our more important players, with his goalscoring threat and his ability in the final third to cause goalscoring opportunities giving us a real edge over other teams.

Ramsey has made over 200 appearances for Arsenal since joining in 2008 - making this his testimonial year. With Lucas Torreira giving more cover defensively, Ramsey could thrive in the box to box role knowing the pressure is a little lighter in tracking back.

There has been no news on his contract so far, and his signature has the potential to be the most important signing this summer.
