Aaron Ramsey has finally commented on his Arsenal future and current contract negotiations - but has said he is no closer to extending his stay at the club.
The Welsh midfielder is currently on a pre-season trip to Singapore with the first team squad, and was asked about his Arsenal future, and he said to Sky Sports News;
“We’ll see what happens, but my agent and the club are talking.”
Ramsey continued, saying “I’m not sure exactly what it hinges on, I’m just leaving it to them to discuss and to figure it out but we are yet to come to an agreement.”
“That’s something my agent and the club are discussing to try and get something done. It’s taken a bit of time so far so we will have to wait and see.”
While this is an indicator that there is still some way to go regarding tying up Ramsey to the club, it does highlight that the midfielder and his agent are attempting to meet in the middle.
The only stumbling block can be wages, and with our top earners earning a far fatter crust than Ramsey, the midfielder and his agent will be hopeful they can gain parity with the clubs top earners.
Ramsey is part of key plans that Emery will have for the future, and the Spaniard has already commented on how much he wants the Welshman to stay and tie up his long term future with Arsenal.
With Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Alexandre Lacazette, Lucas Torreira, Sokratis and others representing significant recruitment coming into the club in recent times, Ramsey can see the club is pointing in the right direction.
All he needs now is the right value placed in the right bracket, on the contract document - and Ramsey will hopefully extend his decade stay with the Gunners.
