Some transfer rumours refuse to go away, and this certainly applies to Jean-Michel Seri, the Nice midfielder.

Seri has been linked to Arsenal for over a year now, and latest reports - courtesy of his agent - have reignited claims that Seri is on Arsenal’s radar. This news comes courtesy of The Express.

The Ivorian’s agent has confirmed that his release clause is for 40m Euros, and any interested parties can snap up the tough-tackling midfielder for this tidy sum - but they must get in quick, as the release clause is only valid until the 15th of July. After that date, his club can ask for any transfer fee they decide is worthy.

Chelsea and Barcelona are also believed to be after Seri, but the stumbling block for our London rivals is that no talks will take place until their new manager is in place - so we could steal a march on the Blues.

With Lucas Torreira nearly confirmed as an Arsenal player, our central midfield options will be strong, but Aaron Ramsey has yet to extend his contract with the Gunners, and any move for Seri will most likely hinge on whether the Welshman stays with Arsenal.

One thing in our favour is that former Arsenal captain Patrick Vieira is now in charge of Nice, and hopefully that would give us an edge in any prospective move - with the player thought to also prefer a move to England, this could well be set up for an Arsenal move.

Seri played 40 games for Nice last season, with 10 assists and two goals for the defensive midfielder, but it is his ball-winning and defensive nous that makes him such a lucrative target, and would indeed give Arsenal a great foundation they have been seeking for quite some time.

There are no indications that there is any confirmed interest or move from Arsenal yet, but if you need the latest news, then stay tuned to The Arsenal Review.
