It is common knowledge that Arsenal are on the hunt for a wideman.

This summer’s list of targets has had a plethora of wingers included, and we have seen nearly every winger who impressed last season linked with our club.

Some rumours never truly die though, and the name is constantly circulated every transfer window.

Step forward, Malcom.

The current Barcelona winger is yet again linked with Arsenal, after January, last summer, the season before that…

It is well known that Malcom didn’t have the greatest impact at the Camp Nou last season. His purchase from Bordeaux a little more than a year ago was seen as little more than a move that filled a hole in the squad, and Malcom has played a bit part role for the Catalans.

The Brazilian made 15 appearances for the La Liga club, scoring just once. It is evident that the winger didn’t get the fairest of chances in Spain, and with Barca looking to free up funds for a big-money move for Antoine Griezmann, it is logical that Malcom will hawked out to interested parties.

Are we one of those though? We have so far been linked with Hakim Ziyech, Wilfried Zaha, Nabil Fekir and a raft of others. That is just a drop in the ocean, but what would force Arsenal to fork out for Malcom above these other names?

The Brazilian is still only 22, which means plenty of time to flourish, and after such a frustrating season, he will be keen to re-establish himself. That platform could be at The Emirates.

With so much competition at Barca, his prospects for the future don’t seem to bright, and a move could reignite his career. Whether he fits the bill for Unai Emery is another matter entirely – or a pricetag that we could manage.

We are in the hunt for someone of this ilk, but who knows who will finally arrive at Arsenal?

For now, this is on the backburner. Most likely until next season when we are invariably linked with him again…
