None of todays crop of pro’s have any idea of a regular vocation – Alexandre Lacazette aside.

You see, the French striker is The Postman.

Alexandre Lacazette has been nothing short of a success in his time at Arsenal.

Last season’s Player of the Year at the club, our number 9 scored less than our number 14 and the other half of the Premiership’s most flourishing bromance, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

It was the games that Laca scored in though, and the manner of his performances that not only saw us Gooners vote him our leading light last season – but also endeared him so closely to the fanbase.

This season saw him hit the ground running, but an injury put paid to his and our hopes of two of the world’s best strikers continuing to forge an impactful duo.

We have not felt the loss of Laca only because Aubameyang has been in red-hot form, scoring in nigh-on every game he has appeared in. If it weren’t for the Gabon striker, we would be relying on the inexperience of Gabriel Martinelli, which would have hit us hard as our defence can’t exactly by relied upon so our attack needs to be running smoothly to overcome our woes at the back.

Lacazette harries defences. He puts in tackles, which are all good qualities. It is his ability to not only contribute to the build-up play but also to add the finishing touch that really adds gloss to his game. He is prolific exactly when it matters most.

Laca also scores in the big games, and that is when he really rises to the fore. His return is impending, and if Emery can find a way to fit him, Auba and Pepe into the same side, then all defences will have plenty to work on in order to keep this triumvirate quiet.

Lacazette takes less plaudits because he hasn’t won the Golden Boot and he won’t score with the same frequency as our number 14. In Gooner circles though, we are all under no illusion – we know exactly what the Frenchman brings to the table.

So when you see another post, tweet or image citing respective PL strikers as superior to Lacazette, maybe a reply is in order, reminding the originator that when it comes to delivering – Laca is the Postman.
