According to claims by various media outlets and journalists, the Europa League final will be Laurent Koscielny’s last game in an Arsenal shirt. This has not been confirmed yet. If this is true then Arsenal’s proper sendoff to the club Legend would be with a European trophy.
Arsenal signed the French centre back from Lorient, for a fee of £8.25m, in 2010. Critics saw this is a waste of money. Wenger explained that his side lacked depth in the centre back position.
Koscielny made his competitive debut against Liverpool where he was sent off in the 94th minute for a second bookable offence.
In the same season, he managed to guide Arsenal to the League Cup final where they faced Birmingham City. Koscielny was rapidly building up his reputation, but it all went down the drain after he cost a crucial goal which led to Birmingham City winning the Cup.
However, that specific moment did de-motivate Koscielny. He managed to put in even better performances. Koscielny and Per Mertesacker were rock solid in defence for Arsenal. He was even named Arsenal’s player of the season in 2012/2013.
One of the biggest moments of his Arsenal career came in the FA Cup final against Hull City in 2013/2014 season. Arsenal managed to make a comeback from 2 - 0 down to a 3 - 2 lead. Koscielny scored the equaliser for Arsenal. He finally lifted his first trophy at Arsenal.
Laurent Koscielny has lifed 3 FA Cups and 3 Community shields with Arsenal. He has not lifted a Premier League trophy nor has he lifted a European trophy at Arsenal. The Europa League is now his only hope for a European trophy at North London. A win there would be a perfect sendoff.
