Arsenal may have had more more points this season as compared to the previous season but Unai Emery’s side still managed to find themselves out of the top 4. The only way Arsenal can return to the prestigious Uefa Champions League is by winning the Europa League.

Arsenal still have a lot of work to do to make themselves title contenders or to survive in the Champions League, if they do end up qualifying for it.

Winger Problems

Alex Iwobi and Henrikh Mkhitaryan are the 2 main Arsenal wingers. Despite not being Natural in this position, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, and Mesut Ozil have been played as Wingers this season. Arsenal’s lack of depth in this position has been terrifying.

Denis Suarez was unfortunate to pick a groin injury and not take much part this season. Surely, Arsenal will have to look into bringing a quality winger.

Bournemouth playmaker, Ryan Fraser, has been on Emery’s shortlist for a fair bit of time. Fraser has managed to rack up 14 assists in the Premier League this season. Bringing him into the squad could help Aubameyang move up to his natural position, and hopefully play alongside Lacazette, and rack up goals.

Another player Unai has had his eye on is Crystal Palace’s Wilfried Zaha. Zaha is, without a doubt, a quality winger and Palace’s most important player. With his pace and dribbling, Arsenal’s attack could bolster.

Aaron Ramsey Replacement

Aaron Ramsey is off to Juventus and now Arsenal have been left with a hole in their midfield. Emery will have to bring in a player who can fill his shoes and make a difference in the midfield.

Piotr Zielinski has to be on top of the Aaron Ramsey replacement list for sure. He has been in excellent form this season for Napoli. The 24 year old could surely make a difference for Arsenal.

Adrien Rabiot is another midfielder who’s contract is running out. He was a key part of Emery’s Paris Saint German side. His quality on the ball alongside his physical capabilities, makes him the perfect replacement for Ramsey.

Haphazard Defence

Arsenal have conceded 51 goals in the premier league this season. This is the 2nd worst in the top six. Errors leading to goals have been a natural thing this season and Arsenal seriously have to make changes to the back line.

With Shkodran Mustafi making his way out, possibly for £20m, Arsenal could use the money and the budget available to bring in a World Class centre-back.

With the lack of appearances and Barcelona showing interest in De Ligt, Arsenal could make a move for French international, Samuel Umtiti. Umtiti has been linked to Arsenal for a while and it looks likely that the transfer could took place for around £60m.

The Gunners could go ahead and bring in another centre-back. The Greek and Roma defender, Kostas Manolas, should be on Arsenal’s watchlist. Manolas has been a terrific addition to Roma’s squad ever since his signing. With a release clause of only £36m, he would be a quality addition to Arsenal’s squad for 2019/2020.

Kolasinac and Monreal have been inconsistent this season and Arsenal have been linked with a few left-backs so if Arsenal are to make a move for a left-back instead of another centre-back, there are quite a few options that they could consider.

The young Celtic and Scotish international, Kieran Tierney, or Ajax star, Nicolas Tagliafico, are two very good options for a new left-back. Both of these players could cost less £30m and buying any one of them would be a good business indeed.

Arsenal have to make at least 4 signings to turn this squad into title contenders. They will have to splash the cash this summer.
