Promising young Frenchman Yacine Adli has reportedly done a u-turn on his decision to join Arsenal, according to reports.

The 17 year old, swayed to join by new Arsenal boss and former PSG coach Unai Emery, is now set to sign a new 3 year deal with his current club PSG. This is current news that is spreading through social media and through French football sites and internet publications.

The French prodigy has reportedly been swayed by his agent - who lives in London. This would explain the picture that is currently doing the rounds of Adli in the capital. Adli was close to a deal to leave the French champions, but this looks now to have fallen through at the last hurdle.

This comes on the day that one of our own youth products - Ainsley Maitland-Niles - has signed a new deal to stay at Arsenal. The extension is a reward for the midfielder breaking through into the first team and becoming a mainstay of the squad thanks to his excellent ball retention and calmness under pressure that belies his years.

The situation with Adli transpired due to his hunger for first team football, and this new deal on the table must come with promises of more gametime for the youngster, who made his first team bow at PSG under Emery.

Would Adli have gotten into our team? Not at first, but he would definitely have been in with a better chance of playing more minutes with us than at the French champions. It is unclear whether Adli was a target of Mislintat and co, or whether it was through Emery’s time at PSG, but regardless, the deal seems to have gone south.

With the World Cup looming into view, Torreira still on our radar, and with Sporting Lisbon stars terminating contracts, this week promises to be a busy one, so keep them peeled on The Arsenal Review for the latest.
