Now that Unai Emery has done what seems the majority of his shopping by bringing in five players, it leaves him the task of shipping out some of our squad.
Our ranks are a little swollen at present, and one position that is most likely to receive trimming is between the sticks.
German international Bernd Leno has arrived and has not moved to play second fiddle. With David Ospina and Petr Cech already vying for the gloves and Emi Martinez impressing in training, we have four goalkeepers who are competing for one spot.
Martinez would most likely be happy with being Number2, this would represent a promotion for him. What of Ospina and Cech though?
Ospina has been on World Cup duty and formerly was the favourite for the chop, but a recent story has emerged that may see both leave The Emirates this summer.
Petr Cech has reportedly been offered a chance to rejoin Chelsea, with the Blues prioritising the Czech keeper or Kasper Schmeichel as a replacement for Belgian stopper Thibaut Courtois, should the current Blues Number One take up a suspected offer from Real Madrid.
Courtois is hot property at the moment, with his displays at the World Cup earning him the Golden Glove award. This would leave a gap to fill for Chelsea, and Cech could be keen to go back to a club where he has legendary status.
It is safe to say that Cech didn’t have the best season last campaign, with his propensity for being beaten at his near post a weakness that was maximised and used time and again by ruthless opposition. With Bernd Leno sure to be favourite for the Number One jersey, this could well be a perfect match for all parties.
There are other rumours circulating that Cech may be off to Napoli to join up with former boss Carlo Ancelotti, but one thing is clear - Four goalkeepers can’t wear the Number One jersey.
Something has to give.
