Arsenal are a brand, a worldwide brand.
It means extra revenue, and a fanbase that covers the entire globe. Every continent has Gooner representation, and it means that every pre-season the club can travel to far-flung destinations and receive a welcome that is truly a home reception.
This upcoming pre-season will be no different. Arsenal have announced some pretty tasty pre-season fixtures taking place in America, and with the plethora of Arsenal fan clubs in the country, the support turning up in the assorted stadia will be plentiful.
Our opponents? Bayern Munich, Roma and Real Madrid! So the games will be a great barometer for where we stand before the new season started, seeing as we’ll be taking on proven Champions League quality.
Our first game of the US tour will be on July 17 against Bayern (who coincidentally have just broken their transfer record to shell out #68m for Atletico Madrid’s Lucas Hernandez) and the game will be played at the Dignity Health Sports Park - the home of LA Galaxy.
Three days later, we will be facing Serie A’s Roma. This match will be at the home of NFL side Carolina Panthers, a 74,000 seater stadium that will give plenty of US Gooners the chance to see the team in the flesh.
Last up will be the test of Real Madrid. This game will be played on the lush turf of FedexField, the home of NFL side Washington Redskins. This ground is even bigger, with more than 80,000 able to fill the spacious stands, so plenty of our fellow Gooners can watch us take on the giants of La Liga.
This will be one hell of a week for all us fans, never mind those who will attend the game. The opposition calibre make this week in July a truly mouth-watering experience.
Hopefully we will be fielding some new players too.
