Alexandre Lacazette has been left out of Didier Deschamps’ France side...again. Arsenal fans and critics have voiced their opinion over this dreadful decision as Lacazette had a fruitful season with Arsenal. There is much we have seen from the French International this season that we did not last season. Let’s break it down.

Goals

Alexandre Lacazette scored 17 goals in all competitions last season in 2,758 minutes. That is a goal every 162 minutes. This season Lacazette managed to score 19 goals in 3,237 minutes. A goal every 170 minutes. Despite the less goal per minute ratio, we have to take in account the fact that Lacazette had competition upfront with Aubameyang and still managed to score more than last season. So overall, in terms of goal scoring, we saw an improvement.

Assists

The Arsenal striker managed to rack up 13 assists this season as compared to last season’s 5. We saw a huge improvement in this area, this season. Lacazette showed that he is a team player and can provide more than just goals. And of course there is another reason to this slight increase which takes me to my next point.

Pierre Emerick Aubameyang

The Gabonese International played his first full season with Arsenal this year. Lacazette and Aubameyang linked up various times this season to provide Arsenal the victory. Aubameyang and Lacazette have scored 50 goals, combined, together this season. Lacazette’s Arsenal career started to turn around as soon as Aubameyang arrived. Off the pitch and on the pitch, they both great respect for each other. The pair are enjoying their football, which is visible in their celebrations.

Conclusion

Lacazette has improved a lot ad he has started to settle in at Arsenal. Aubameyang has played a big role in bringing the best out of Lacazette. Arsenal must do everything to make sure that the duo stays at North London for another couple of seasons.
