48 to 1

And he said to them, “Why are you afraid, O you of little faith?” Then he rose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm.I like to peruse the betfair exchange every so often, I take the odds on display there to be the 'real market' odds of most sporting or political events. I've been returning to the Premiership Winner 2017/18 page with some regularity and passing interest since I laid Liverpool at 12/1 at the height of pre-season optimism, since dismissed as over optimism by the collective wisdom of the betting Gods.Arsenal, have consistently been moving wider in the pricing, and when I checked pre the WBA game, the odds were a mouth watering 48/1. FORTY EIGHT to ONE!!! And yet, I have to admit yesterday before this game I didn't consider backing them. Little faith indeed. After the second half performance last night which saw a composed and solid dispatching of the Baggies, the odds have fallen to a less incredulous 40/1.Given WBA were about 10/1 to win last night's game, it seems odd to have such a massive move in odds for a 38 game race, which according to the bookies is a 6 horse race, with Arsenal the firm dark horse. I would like to think the form of Lacazette, and the dropping of Ozil may have helped tighten those odds somewhat? To me the midfield weakness and the inability of Ozil to be dropped were major reasons why Arsenal looked consigned to another run in the Europa League in 2018/19, at best. Dropping Ozil and moving Ramsey into the front 3 in one fell swoop solves 2 core weaknesses in the team formation. What can take us from 40/1 into lets say the mid teens, and something that would resemble a shot at top 4 finish? I'd like to see Mustafi cut out his penchant for sliding tackles! Seen again last night, but thankfully not by the ref. I'd like to see Sanchez start to up his end product, largely missing last night. And ultimately I'd like us to continue on the current run of games won. Brighton, Watford & Everton away are all winnable games, but no pushovers. For this team to regain the faith missing it needs to take 9 points before the final home game against Swansea in October. 12 points in October and I fancy us at 40/1... have you the faith to back them now???
